Who we are

Inspiring Linguists ("we", "us") provides teaching resources for modern foreign languages teachers in schools. We are responsible for the personal information described here. If you have any questions, or want to use any of the rights below, please get in touch.

What we collect

• Your membership: memberships are bought and delivered through Gumroad. Gumroad shares your name, email address and what you bought with us so we can support you. We never see or store your full card details.
• Invoices: if your school pays by invoice, the contact and billing details you give us for it.
• The newsletter: your email address, if you sign up.
• Messages you send us through the contact form or by email: your name, email address and message.
• Technical information such as IP addresses in our hosting providers' logs, used to keep the site running and secure.

Why we use it

• To provide the membership you've paid for, and to invoice your school if you've asked us to. We need to do this to provide the service you signed up for.
• To send you the newsletter, if you've signed up for it. You can unsubscribe at any time from any newsletter email.
• To reply to messages you send us, keep the site secure and improve the library. These are our legitimate interests.
• To keep financial records where the law requires it.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site, and only share what each one needs:

• Gumroad: sells and delivers the membership, takes payments and sends receipts. Gumroad handles your purchase under its own privacy policy.
• Our invoicing provider, if your school pays by invoice.
• MailerLite: sends the newsletter.
• Our hosting and database providers: run the website and store contact-form messages.
• Video platforms: some pages and resources include embedded videos. These load from the video platform when you play them, using its privacy-enhanced mode where one is available.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where your information leaves the UK, it's protected by safeguards approved under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep membership and invoice records for as long as you're a member, and payment records for as long as the law requires. We keep newsletter details until you unsubscribe. We keep contact-form messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry, and for no more than two years.

Cookies

This website doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies. Embedded videos may set their own cookies when you play them, and Gumroad sets its own cookies when you buy or open your library there.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. You can also object to or ask us to restrict how we use it, or ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Contact us and we'll respond within one month. For your Gumroad account itself, you can also contact Gumroad directly.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Inspiring Linguists is for teachers, not pupils. Memberships are only for adults, and we don't knowingly collect information about children.

Changes

If we make important changes to this policy, we'll update this page and, where appropriate, let members know by email.
